Melody Wallace has a busy private voice studio made up of students of many ages and reasons for studying. Currently, the youngest is 8 years old, and the oldest is 81. She has been teaching private voice and piano lessons for over 25 years. The students are interested in all styles of music including music theater, classical, pop, and choral music. Melody’s students frequently succeed at a variety of vocal and life endeavors including acceptance into respected voice, opera, music theater, music therapy and music education college degree programs, roles in musicals, church and school solos, scholarships, and other competitions such as Overture Scholarships, Schmidt vocal competition, and Solo/Ensemble contests and All-State Choir. All students study to sing better and for the fun and joy of singing and music. Life skills of confidence, collaboration, development of character, responsibility, artistic abilities, and transferable concepts are gained and developed.

 

Before her home studio, Melody taught at the Cincinnati Music Academy, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Preparatory Department and taught classes in sight singing, aural skills (ear training), music theory, diction, song literature, choral arranging, musical theater, accompanying and music appreciation for the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, Northern Kentucky University, The College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati Music Academy, and The Musical Arts Center. She also has taught (and teaches) performance master classes in voice for Anne Moss at The Music House and for Paul McCready and other teachers at The Cincinnati Music Academy and at the Musical Arts Center. She has substituted for many voice teachers including Karl Resnikat the Musical Arts Center. She frequently is a vocal coach at the High School Acting Studio at Cincinnati Actor’s Studio. She also works with several acting teachers and their students including Gina Ceremele-Mechley, Erin Carr, Bekka Reardon Eaton and Cheryl Couch.

 

Melody also teaches some piano students and has been teaching piano for over 25 years. As a pianist, Melody has performed in numerous solo, chamber music and art song recitals. She accompanies for many recordings, competitions (including Overture and solo/ensemble competition) and many other events, both instrumental and vocal. Melody has also accompanied in many voice and instrumental studios at CCM, Northern Kentucky University, Mount St. Joseph, University of Dayton, and University of Minnesota Duluth.

 

Melody is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Music Teachers National Association, National Pastoral Musicians, and The Hymn Society.

 

Melody has sung with the Athenaeum Chorale and the Cathedral Choir. She has also sung with and accompanied the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati. She also sings for weddings, funerals, parties, and other events and recitals.

 

Melody received her Bachelor of Music Degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota, Duluth (UMD). She also studied choral music education at UMD. She then earned her Master of Music degree in Vocal and Piano Accompanying from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She has also had training in voice, vocal pedagogy, diction, vocal literature, oratorio, opera coaching and accompanying, choral conducting, vocal literature, music education, jazz improvisation, orchestra, band, music theory and languages.

 

Melody enjoys spending time with her cats, Ginger and Cecilia. She also likes to doodle and take pictures and flowers.
